San

Okay.... I made a web-comic sort of thing based on some random sketchy-things I did a few days ago. Kind of an idea for a series of online comics - although obviously this was more of an experiment than a final piece.

Decided to make another attempt at drawing from scratch with the mouse, instead of scanning an image in first. The result was kind of... rubbish. But, luckily - and thanks to the craposity (my very own word xD) of modern day technology - the image won't properly upload to Blogspot. So instead of seeing it in it's full, rubbishy glory, you can see only a blurry version... and I am currently very grateful for lacklustre technology.

Shall probably try it again next week, by scanning it in and doing it GOOD. It shall be a challenge I'm sure, but, like Mount Everest, it's just something you "gotta do".

Ni

Geez, keep forgetting to update this thing... I forgot I'm terrible at keeping blogs; I spend to much time THINKING what to put in them, and no time actually PUTTING it in.

Still, guess now'd be a decent time for some stuffy-ness to go up on here. Been experiment with Paint Shop Pro, not the most involved of experiments I'll admit... but there's been some dabbling.

Have very much decided that while starting stuff from scratch on PSP has decent results (see below, left), I think it'll be easier, and a little bit sleeker, to scan stuff in first, and then jazz it up with the magic of technology.

(note: For some reason... they're not going into blogger as well as they should...)

So... think I'm picking up the pace now anyway, hopefully more stuff to come soon. Heck, why say hopefully? I'm trapped here, what else am I gonna do? Play Space Invaders???

Actually... that's not a half bad idea....

Ichi

So... researching Arty-farty stuff right now...
Obviously due to my spectacular tastes, I've been looking at manga, done digitally. Pretty much as simple as typing "digital manga" into Google.

Until I got picture overload and my head started to do that hurty thing it always done when my brain gets frazzled... (-_-')

Then, I remembered about Sweatdrop studio, the UK-based manga publishing company-ny. Even though I've never really read their stuff, I heard it was good, so I did a little re-googling... and discovered... (wait for it) ...Joanna Zhou!!!

Who, it turns out, is one of the people who design the Momiji; cute little peoplez that I've been collecting since I was 15 and sticking up on my shelf. (Cos' I'm cool like that.)

So... Miss Zhou draws her lineart pretty standard - with a pen and a pencil - and THEN she does her magical tricks (i.e: colouring, touching up, doing backgrounds, etc) on the computer.

For example... (:D)
So this is kind of what I had in mind. I like my style now... but I'd like to make it more smooth and refined - professional looking. If I could draw a sketch on paper, scan it, and turn it into something great (I'll settle for decent :P), then that'd be pretty cool. Also, I think with access to a computer I'd be able to experiment with my style. I've been working on trying to personalize my art lately, and while I feel I'm getting there, somewhat, I still feel limited in what I can do... and I think with digital media I'll be able to do new things, such as experiment with different colouring techniques.

Stuff like this also came up during my "investigation".
It's got a sense of clean-cutness that I really want to be able to replicate. I have a sense of style that's a mixture of cute and creepy, and I like to be able to represent dark or scary things in cute and simple ways - and I think digital media will allow me to do this the best.

I think this is the epitome of what I'd like to be able to do. Simple, yet effective. Of course, I'd like to be able to add my own sinister side to it as well. Can't have the nice without the nasty (:D)

So... that's me done for the day anyway. Done so much talking (er... typing??) that I am *yawn* very tired now, and have developed an intense desire to see my bed.

There's no place like home,
There's no place like home,
There's no place like home... aww crap, these aren't ruby slippers!?

Guess I better start walking...
